Hiroaki Takenouchi to perform Catoire’s Piano Concerto with London Phoenix Orchestra

Wednesday 26 October 2016 – 7:30pm at St John’s Smith Square, London.

Writing during the richly musical period before the Russian Revolution, and counting Tchaikovsky, Arensky and Lyadov in his circle, the work of Russian composer Georgy Catoire is, however, somewhat neglected today. Hiroaki Takenouchi is a passionate advocate of Catoire’s Piano Concerto and his recording of the work (with Martin Yates and Royal Scottish National Orchestra) was released by Dutton in 2012, receiving excellent reviews in the press.  At St. John’s Smith Square on 26th October, Takenouchi  and the London Phoenix Orchestra give the London premiere performance of this heart-warming and lyrical work.

The concert also includes Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2  and Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2. Lev Parikian is the conductor.
