New video featuring Hiroaki Takenouchi’s Dupré recording

Production company Aria Diphonic has released a beautiful video featuring Hiroaki Takenouchi’s recording of music by Marcel Dupré.

The movement featured is Variation III from Dupré’s Variations in C-sharp minor, Op. 22, and is taken from Hiroaki’s latest disc, released on French specialist piano label Artalinna in March of this year.

Inspired by the dreaminess and melancholy of Dupré’s music, the team at Aria Diphonic has created a ‘painting’ in video form, with dancer Lucile Roux performing on the beach of Arromanches-les-Bains, known for the striking remains of its artificial port, dating from World War II.

As well as Dupré’s Variations, Hiroaki’s disc also includes two other multi-movements works by pianist-composers: Edvard Grieg’s Ballade in the form of variations on a Norweigan Folk Song, Op. 24, and Nicolai Medtner’s Improvisation No. 2 in F-sharp minor (in the form of variations), Op. 47. The CD came out as a digital-only release, and is available to stream via all of the normal channels, or to download in high res from services such as Qobuz.
